KDSSC Thornhill opening

march 14, 2019

I bought my first DSLR, a used Canon 70D with the 18-55 kit lens, on October 31st 2018. It was to take pictures of my band Haneum’s rehearsals and our concert in December. A week after I bought the camera, the Korean Dance Studies Society of Canada had their 10th SooRyu Dance Festival. Armed with my new camera, I joined them for their finale concert to take pictures of the performance - of course, somehow I ended up performing a bit as well. Although my lens was a bit limiting at f/5.6 zoomed in, and I had no idea what I was doing in post, using the stock Photos app on my MacBook, it was great having a responsive camera and being able to crank up the shutter speed to take clear shots of the movement.

When I heard saw on instagram that KDSSC was starting to branch out from the out-of-reach KCCA to the much-close-to-me Dream Makers Studio to teach Korean dance, I knew I wanted to go take pictures again, but this time armed with my fast lenses.
